lääkärintodistus Playoff

Nate Thompson

Coach Bruce Boudreau said that Thompson is being viewed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury ahead of Thursday's playoff opener against the Jets. Thompson ended up playing in Saturday's regular-season finale against the Coyotes, so it appears that was where the injury probably originated. The center finished the season with 18 points in 80 games while working primarily in a fourth-line role, so his possible absence for the start of the playoffs shouldn't have much of an effect on those in pools.

Mark Giordano

Giordano (biceps) skated on his own Monday, and hasn't ruled out a return later in the postseason, Flames play-by-play announcer Derek Willis reports. Giordano remains a ways away from a return to the ice, but added hope of a return yet this season should the Flames advance further in the playoffs. He would need to be cleared by doctors before making that return, and admitted there's no guarantee that will happen, but the captain provided some fuel for the Flames on Monday with his comments. It's unclear how far the team would need to advance to acquire his services, but that will likely be played by ear moving forward.

Lance Bouma

Bouma (upper body) remains day-to-day heading into the series opener against the Canucks Wednesday. Coach Bob Hartley indicated most of the lineup decisions for Wednesday's contest will be made Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning, which should include Bouma. He's tallied 34 points through 78 games with the Flames this season, but has never played in a NHL playoff game.

Paul Byron

Byron (lower body) practiced Tuesday. Spin: Byron is considered day-to-day as Wednesday's playoff opener against the Canucks approaches, but his presence at practice Tuesday suggests that he is, at the very least, nearing a return to action for the Flames. Byron last suited up for the team on March 27.   Raphael Diaz   Diaz (undisclosed) isn't likely to play Tuesday against the Coyotes, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet.ca reports. Spin: Diaz didn't skate on a regular pairing during the Flames' morning skate, so Corey Potter will remain in the lineup Tuesday at his expense. It's unclear whether Diaz will be ready to go for either of the team's two remaining games during the regular season.

  Patrick Kane

Kane (clavicle) is in line to play Wednesday against the Preds, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports. Kane, who was cleared for full participation Monday, is thus slated to suit up for the Hawks on Wednesday for the first time since Feb. 24, when he suffered a broken left clavicle. Prior to sustaining the injury, Kane had recorded 64 points in 61 games for the Hawks.

Brad Richards

Richards (upper body) returned to practice Monday, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports. The upper-body injury ended up costing Richards the final three games of the regular season, ending a disappointing campaign for the veteran center. While the ailment doesn't look as though it will jeopardize his availability Thursday for Game 1 of the Blackhawks' first-round series against the Predators, Richards won't represent the attractive target in playoff pools that his brand name would suggest. Despite playing alongside some of the best talent of his career, Richards recorded just 12 goals and 25 assists in 76 games this year.

Daniel Carcillo

Carcillo (upper body) has yet to resume skating, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports. At this point, it appears doubtful that Carcillo will make an appearance for the Blackhawks during their first-round series with the Predators. The tough winger hasn't appeared in a game since suffering the injury March 26 against the Flyers.

Kimmo Timonen

Timonen (upper body) returned to practice Monday, CSN Chicago's Tracey Myers reports. The Blackhawks held Timonen out of their final three regular-season games due to the injury, but the team never seemed concerned about him missing any action during the playoffs. While Timonen hasn't officially been declared ready to go for Wednesday's postseason opener, his participation on a regular pairing with Michal Rozsival suggests that will be the case. The Blackhawks are hoping the time off late in the season will have Timonen refreshed and ready to produce in the playoffs, as he was an extreme disappointment in the 16 games he did play in following his Feb. 27 acquisition from the Flyers. Timonen failed to register a single point and averaged only 11:59 of ice time.

Justin Abdelkader

Abdelkader (hand) practiced Monday for the first time since last week, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. Abdelkader has been a surprisingly productive offensive player this season, with a career-high 23 goals and 44 points. The Red Wings will need all hands on deck to upset the Lightning, and Abdelkader should be back for Game 1 on Thursday.

Darren Helm

Helm (illness) practiced Tuesday, Ansar Khan of MLive reports. Helm did not participate in Monday's practice, but his return to the ice Tuesday puts him in line to suit for Thursday's playoff opener against the Lightning.

Erik Cole

Cole (spinal cord contusion) is reportedly done for the season, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. Per the report, that extends to the postseason, assuming the Wings qualify for a spot in the Eastern Conference. In 11 games since coming over in a deadline deal with the Stars, Cole notched three goals and six points for the Red Wings. The veteran forward is slated to become a free agent this summer, but the spinal contusion, as well as his advancing age (36) could significantly cool his market.

Max Pacioretty

Pacioretty (upper body) has been cleared for contact, TSN's John Lu reports. That said, Lu adds that coach Michel Therrien indicated that at this stage he'd be surprised if Pacioretty played Wednesday against the Senators, but so far such an outcome has yet to be ruled out. Pacioretty was able to take part in Tuesday's practice, though he didn't skate on a regular line.

Tom Gilbert

Gilbert (upper body) practiced with the Canadiens on Monday, Eric Engels of Sportsnet.ca reports. Gilbert's participation in practice could have him in line for a return to the lineup when the Canadiens begin their first-round playoff series with the Senators on Wednesday. The blueliner missed the Habs' final two regular-season contests due to the injury.

Shea Weber

Weber (lower body) practiced Monday, The Tennessean reports. Weber sat out Saturday's game against the Stars, but his return to practice Monday puts him on track to be a go for Wednesday's playoff opener against Chicago.

Roman Josi

Josi (lower body) practiced Monday, The Tennessean reports. As did Shea Weber, with both blueliners on track to play Wednesday against Chicago after sitting out the Preds' regular-season finale.

Mike Fisher

Fisher (lower body) participated in a portion of Monday's practice session before leaving the ice, The Tennessean reports. Fisher thus remains in the day-to-day category for the Preds in advance of Wednesday's playoff opener against Chicago.

Cody Franson

Franson (upper body) did not practice Monday, The Tennessean reports. Franson thus remains in the day-to-day category as Wednesday's playoff opener against Chicago approaches.

Eric Nystrom

Nystrom (lower body) remains sidelined, according to Brooks Bratten of NHL.com. As the postseason approaches, it remains unclear when Nystrom will return to the Preds' lineup, making him a risky roll for Nashville backers in playoff pools.

 Travis Hamonic

Hamonic (undisclosed) is likely to miss Wednesday's playoff opener against the Caps, according to Newsday. NHL.com reports. With regard to Hamonic's injury and a potential timetable for the blueliner's return, coach Jack Capuano noted Tuesday, "it's undisclosed and there's no timetable...When there is I'll let you know." Hamonic, who last suited up on April 10, finished the regular season with 33 points and 85 PIM in 71 games.

Frans Nielsen

Nielsen (undisclosed) returned to practice Monday, according to Newsday. Nielsen has been battling a lower-body injury for the past few weeks, but is expected to be ready to go for Wednesday's playoff opener versus the Caps. His role could be a vital one, as he will center the second line, a trio that may have to produce more offense than usual if the Capitals decide to throw their top defenders at John Tavares' unit.

Mikhail Grabovski

Grabovski (concussion) is getting close to a return to action, according to SNY.tv. Grabovski has participated in two full practices to go along with Monday's skate and hasn't suffered any setbacks. In a perfect world the Islanders may like to get Grabovski some game action before the playoffs begin next Wednesday but they may not have that luxury if Friday and/or Saturday become must wins just to get into those playoffs.

  Kevin Klein

Klein (arm) is not expected to play in Thursday's playoff opener against the Penguins, Andrew Gross of The Record reports. Coach Alain Vigneault indicated that in order for Klein to play on Thursday, the defender would have to practice Wednesday, something that Vigneault doesn't expect to occur. "He's day to day," Vigneault said Tuesday. "I think everyone knows a broken bone takes time to heal. We anticipated four to six (weeks). We're in that range. He's been skating on his own but he's not quite ready to yet to join the team."

  Kris Letang

GM Jim Rutherford announced Friday that if the Penguins earn a playoff spot, Letang is "not likely" to be available at any point, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. Rutherford said he was basing his assessment on Letang's "present condition," which likely means the blueliner hasn't experienced much progress in his recovery from the concussion. Letang has a rather lengthy history of head injuries and missed significant time after suffering a stroke last season, so from a long-term perspective, it probably makes sense for the Penguins to keep him out for the rest of the season. While the 27-year-old turned in another outstanding season with 11 goals and 54 points, he was still limited to 69 games, the fourth straight season in which he's missed 10-plus games. Those health concerns will again be salient in his outlook heading into the 2015-16 campaign.

  Christian Ehrhoff

Ehrhoff (upper body) has been cleared for contact, Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. That said, the Penguins still consider Ehrhoff day-to-day as Thursday's playoff opener against the Rangers approaches. He's been able to practice with the team for the last two days without any complications.

Derrick Pouliot

Pouliot (upper body) didn't practice Tuesday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. Pouliot's status should be updated Wednesday, but it appears doubtful that he'll be available Thursday's playoff opener against the Rangers at this stage.

  Jason Garrison

Garrison (upper body) practiced Monday in a no-contact capacity, Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Garrison stepped up his workload during Monday's session, but the blueliner isn't optimistic of his prospects for the early part of the Lightning's first-round series against the Red Wings. "I don't know what's going to happen this week," Garrison said, regarding a potential return date. "I'm making progress every day. Still lots to gain, but I think if my body responds well, hopefully (I'll return) sooner than later." Garrison is one of three injured Lightning defensemen narrowing in on a return to action at some point in the series.

Alex Killorn

Killorn (undisclosed) shed his no-contract jersey for Monday's practice, Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times reports. The Lightning suggested last week that they were planning on having Killorn available for the first game of their first-round playoff series, and that plans still seems to hold true for the moment. Killorn skated alongside Steven Stamkos and Ryan Callahan on the Bolts' top line at Monday's practice, and with another positive session Tuesday, he should receive clearance to play Thursday against the Red Wings.

Andrej Sustr

Sustr (upper body) practiced in a no-contact capacity Monday, Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Though his activity was limited in Monday's session, Sustr remains optimistic that he'll be available for Game 1 of the Lightning's first-round playoff series Thursday against the Red Wings. After missing the team's final six regular-season games with the injury, Sustr will probably need to get in at least one full-contact practice before receiving clearance to play.

Braydon Coburn

Coach Jon Cooper noted Tuesday that Coburn (lower body) is "questionable to probable" for Thursday's playoff opener against the Red Wings, NHL.com's Bryan Burns reports. Coburn, who participated in Tuesday's optional skate, continues to inch toward a return to action and even if he is unable to suit up for Thursday's Game 1, it seems likely that the blueliner will play at some point during the Lightning's opening-round series.

   Zack Kassian

Kassian (back) resumed skating on his own last Friday. The winger has yet to receive clearance to practice with the rest of the team, which will prevent him from being unavailable for the start of the Canucks' first-round series with the Flames. Coach Willie Desjardins would likely be loath to make any lineup changes if the Canucks play well in the early stages of the playoffs, so Kassian may have a tough time cracking the forward ranks once he's back at full health.

    Mathieu Perreault

Perreault (lower body) did not work with the Jets' main group at Tuesday's practice, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports. More on Perreault's status as Thursday's Game 1 against the Ducks approaches, but at this stage, he appears to slot into the day-to-day category.

   Eric Fehr

Fehr (upper body) practiced Monday, the Washington Times reports. While Fehr's presence on the ice bodes well for his chances of suiting up Wednesday against the Islanders, coach Barry Trotz fell short Monday of confirming Fehr's Game 1 status.

Jay Beagle

Beagle (upper body) will not play in the Capitals' regular-season finale against the Rangers, Alex Prewitt of The Washington Post reports. Beagle hasn't played since mid-March with an upper-body ailment, but he resumed skating with the team earlier this week and is preparing to return to the lineup for the first round of the playoffs. He was having a career-best 10-goal, 20-point season at the time of his injury.
