Paul Espargaro is one of the drivers who has yet to secure a seat inside or outside the Honda for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. The Spaniard is now going into his second year with the Japanese manufacturer, not knowing his future, although he has already stated that for now both parties want to continue the partnership. However, both Joan Mir and Fabio Quartararo are chances for the team.

In an interview Espargaro gave to EFE, the pilot was asked if the fact that he was in a year when most contracts are decided, including his own, feels like it brings more pressure.

“It's part of the game. I have been at the World Cup for 15 seasons now and I have had this feeling many times, so obviously we have to get the results as soon as possible because the contracts will be closed before the middle of the season and we will have to be competitive,” he admitted.

#44 went on to make it clear that the urgent of presenting the results is not directly related to his future:

- But I think that we need to think not about being competitive because of contracts, but because of professionalism, and this year we have the tools. If we do everything well, if we think about what we have, and not about additional aspects, such as contracts, we will be fine.
