Ilya Kovalchuk: I wouldn’t be disappointed to start next season in the KHL

New Jersey Devils star Ilya Kovalchuk commented on the rumours of an impending NHL lockout and his possible return to Russia.

«A lot of people claim that, with their top players fit and ready for action, the Penguins are the strongest team in the NHL. Do you concur?»

«I don’t care what other people say, I am focussed on my team. Only the play-offs will show who is the best.»

«Pittsburg won nine matches in a row without Crosby. What will they gain with his return?»

«Any team would be twice as good with a player like Sid. The Devils’ got a few wins this season, but we are also missing our centre Travis Zajac. With his return we hope to improve as well.»

«Is it true that the lock-out is inevitable?»

«I am not the NHL or the players union, so I can’t tell you, but I am sure that the players will keep fighting for their rights.»

«Would you be disappointed to spend next season at, say, Spartak Moscow than in New Jersey?»

«We will see where life takes me. But why should I be disappointed, if I am enjoying my game and entertaining the fans?» Kovalchuk told Sovetsky sport.
