CSKA Moscow ask Putin to provide them with additional sponsors
CSKA Moscow sent a letter to Russia’s prime-minister Vladimir Putin asking for financial support, according to Kommersant.
Since OGK-3 became the sole owner of the club in January, CSKA have been experiencing problems with finances and payment of salaries. In the letter it is said that CSKA’s arrears in wages reached some 50 million rubles (€1.2 million), while the debts from other economic activities exceeded 50 million (€1.2 million). The budget deficit for year 2011 is 376 million (€9 million).
Meanwhile, a representative of OGK-3 said CSKA had already been provided with investments of several hundred million rubles, but the club still didn’t provide a well-though business plan and a plan how it aims to achieve sporting goals. Further funding, according to him, will not be made until the prospects become clear.
In order to prevent the bankruptcy of the legendary club Putin was asked to expand the list of shareholders with Transneft, a major Russian state-owned oil pipelines operator.
