Malkin, Datsyuk, Varlamov, Bryzgalov, and Semin to play in charity match between Kovalchuk and Ovechkin teams

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Yevgeny Malkin, Colorado Avalanche goalkeeper Semyon Varlamov, Philadelphia Flyers goalkeeper Ilya Bryzgalov, Washington Capitals and Detroit Red Wings forwards Alexander Semin and Pavel Datsyuk, as well as the new signing of Spartak Moscow Jozef Stumpel, will take part in the charity match between the teams of Ilya Kovalchuk and Alexander Ovechkin which is to be held within the framework of the «Ot chistogo serdtsa» («In all sincerity») campaign, Spartak official site reported. The event will be held in Moscow’s Sokolniki Palace on August 31 at 19.30 MSK.

The game will also feature the past legends of Spartak and the USSR national team, now Spartak coaches – Viktor Pachkalin, Vadim Epanchintsev, and Oleg Bratash, general managers of CSKA Moscow, SKA St. Petersburg, and Vityaz Chekhov Sergey Nemchinov, Alexey Kasatonovm, and Alexey Zhamnov, repsectively, as well as the legendary Vyacheslav Fetisov.

In addition to them the squads of Kovalchuk Team and Ovechkin Team will include well-known Russian politicians, including Alexander Zhukov, deputy prime minister and president of the Russian Olympic Committee, Arkady Dvorkovich, assistant to president of the Russian Federation, regional leaders, as well as the renowned people of business and arts.

A similar match took place last September in Moscow, when Kovalchuk Team and Ovechkin Team played a 13:13 draw. The game yielded a profit of 13.87 million roubles ($470,000). All the money collected was donated to children who had suffered from the fires. This time all funds collected from the event will be donated to Sergiev Posad orphanage for deaf-blind children.
