South Korea wins 2019 EAFF East Asian Cup championship
On December 18th Korea beat Japan men's team to capture East Asia 3d consecutive football title. The only goal by midfielder I.B. Hwang on the 28th minute elevated Korea to a third straight title at the EAFF E-1 Football Championship at Busan Asiad Stadium. Traditionally for Korea beating archrival Japan is more than just a sports victory - it's like a winning small war as two countries have a controversial relationship history and were fiercely competing at most sports events. Korea was occupied by Japan on 1910-1945.
Korea earlier won a match against Hong Kong 2-0 and then China 1-0.
On Tuesday Japan women's team beat Korea 1-0 for the title.
