Andrey Arshavin: For me this season isn’t over yet

Arsenal attacking midfielder Andrey Arshavin has summed up the 2010-11 season in an interview with his own official website.

«This season turned out to be hard for Arsenal. We had some difficulties in the league… At the end of the tournament there was a feeling, like: whatever we do, whatever efforts we put it, everything is against us.»

«Was it a lack of luck, a conspiracy of referees, or something else?»

«We just couldn’t win, we tried, but the season went its own way. Our ways have parted, I’d say.»

«There is a commemorative plate in front of the Arsenal’s training base entry with the club’s achievements listed on it. It hasn’t been updated for a long time.»

«Are you asking when there will be a new record? We’ve been counting on this year. We’ve had really good chances for that. Should have won a trophy in the League Cup final. Unfortunately, we’ve allowed Birmingham to become the owners of this trophy by ourselves.»

«Was there anything positive?»

«Relatively speaking. It’s good that we will be playing in the Champions League next year. Or, to be more precise, we will start from qualifiers. Anything more? I’d say the support of our fans.»

«Could you please name the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, and forward of the season?»

«Best goalkeeper is van der Sar, best defender is Vidic, best midfielder is Wilshere, and best forward is Rooney.»

«How do you intend to prepare for the game against Armenia?»

«I hope Zenit will allow me to get ready for the Armenia game at their training ground. I have already spoken with the club’s general director. On Monday Maxim Lvovich [Mitrofanov – Sports.ru] should give his answer and, if it’s positive, on Thursday I will start training with Zenit. For me this season isn’t over yet.»
