Danko Lazovic: I decided to quit the national team instead of starting a scandal

Zenit St. Petersburg forward Danko Lazovic has revealed his reasons to retire from the Serbian national team. Earlier this year in March, Lazovic has expressed his desire not to perform for the ‘White Eagles’ any more and concentrate on the club performances.

«I have never explained my decision to the media, but I will make an exception for the fans. I’m highly respectful of the national team and I’ve always felt happy to be called up there, even if did not play. For me Serbia is everything.»

«However, recently I have been getting no chance to enter the pitch, while I was at least as good as my teammates. I have decided not to argue with the coach, not to complain to the press, not to say things behind the backs of other players. Quitting the national team without scandals in my opinion was the best decision in this situation», said Lazovic in his interview to PRO Zenit magazine.
