CSKA management in favour of removing the foreign players quota in the RPL
CSKA Moscow director-general Roman Babaev expressed his views on the proposal to get rid of the quota on foreign players in the Russian Premier League.
«It’s a difficult question, but our stance on this issue hasn’t changed since 2005, when the restrictions were put in place. We believe that the current system is ineffective and it is clear from the results. In seven years that it has been in place, the quota didn’t improve the numbers of young local talents significantly. But we can’t get rid of all restrictions, so there has to be a balance,» said president Yevgeny Giner’s protégé.
«Every country chooses their own way. In England they look at quality, in Spain and Italy it’s all down to the EU citizenship of the player. We need to work out our own reasoning and I believe that the best way is to let only the quality players in,» the executive added, quoted in Sport-Express.
