Alexander Kerzhakov: Russians can win the Champions League in the near future

Zenit St. Petersburg striker Alexander Kerzhakov believes a Russian side can win the elite European tournament in the next few years.

«I believe that a Russian club will win the Champions league in the near future and I hope that club will be Zenit,» the former Sevilla striker was quoted as saying on the UEFA website.

Commenting on his club’s upcoming Champions League 1/8 final second leg against Benfica, Kerzhakov said:

«These games are historic for this club, we have never played in the play-offs before. But we want to keep going, step by step, to the very top.»
