Europa League: Lokomotiv’s Caicedo powers through the snow to net a winner against Athletic Bilbao
Lokomotiv Moscow Ecuadorian striker Felipe Caicedo earned a penalty and struck the second-half winner to earn a vital victory for Lokomotiv Moscow in the Europa League tie against Spanish side Atletic Bilbao.
The home side were rather subdued in the first half, allowing Markel Susaete to run down the flank unchallenged before finding Muniain, who put the ball in the net.
Loko’s inspiration came from their Latin American forward Caicedo, who, despite extreme conditions, made a forceful run and was brought down in the penalty are after an hour of play. Glushakov made it 1-1 from the spot.
And twenty minutes before the finish the hero of the night Caicedo shined once again, picking up a loose ball after Yanbaev’s cross to fire home from close range: 2-1.
