Pavel Pogrebnyak: Fulham players admired Zenit playing style under Advocaat
Pavel Pogrebnyak spoke Sport-Express about his debut for Fulham in the victory against Stoke City, to which he contributed with a goal.
«How did your introduction to the Fulham players go?»
«It was brief: the coach introduced me to the team and we started the training routine.»
«Did they make you sing a song, like Zhirkov at Chelsea?»
«There is no time for singing at the moment. But everyone was very friendly. I realised immediately that the atmosphere at Fulham is great and the lads are very nice.»
«Which of the players do you talk to more?»
«I was introduced to all the players, the asked me about Stuttgart and Saint-Petersburg, told me they were impressed with Zenit under Dick Advocaat.»
«Do Fulham leaders – Duff, Dempsey, Murphy – behave like they are true stars?»
«No, they are very modest, very pleasant guys, they show me their support. Murphy told me straight away: «If you need anything, let us know, we’ll help you out. And Philippe Senderos drives me to training and back to the hotel.»
«What kind of tactics do they stick to in attack?»
«I guess it is kind of similar to Zenit’s: one striker at the top and a couple of forwards beneath him. But we can play with two strikers if necessary,» the Russia international said.
He also added that the manager decided to take him off after 60 minutes because the striker felt a niggle in his ankle.
