Anzhi’s Benoit Angbwa boycotts Cameroon national team

Anzhi Makhachkala defender Benoit Angbwa has criticized the Cameroon Football Federation’s decision to suspend Samuel Eto’O for 15 national team matches.

«The Cameroon Football Federation implies we aren’t patriotic and says all we want is money. It’s not true. We showed our patriotism many times. It is players who earn most money for the Federation, but the money is spent wrongly. The Federation’s officials came to the Algeria friendly with all the comfort. But players, who give their all for the country on pitch, stayed in unbelievable conditions. So, the boycott was a collective decision. The sanction on our captain was unfair. If he’s not cleared, I will not respond to call-ups to the Cameroon national team,» Angbwa said according to Camfoot.com.

Angbwa’s decision was supported by Olympiacos Piraeus midfielder Jean Makoun.

Samuel Eto’O was imposed a 15-match ban by the Cameroon Football Federation for a strike action on the eve of a friendly match against Algeria on 15 November.
