FIFPro urge UEFA to investigate Gogniev case, UEFA deny having jurisdiction over it
Dejan Stefanovic, spokesman of FIFPro’s Task Force Eastern Europe, made a statement about the publication of the video that features Krasnodar forward Spartak Gogniev being beaten during a game between the Russian Premier League youth teams.
«FIFA and UEFA must deal with this. We will show FIFA’s and UEFA ‘s Secretary Generals and the members of both Executive Committees a video of the incident, because this incident and the way the Russian Federation has handled Gogniev’s case need to be discussed by the Executive Committees of both FIFA and UEFA. These Executive Committees must also force their bodies to come into action.,» Stefanovic said as quoted by FIFPro official website.
However, according UEFA press service, it is sole responsibility of the Russian FA to deal with the case.
«The incident in question, happened during a national championship game, conducted under the auspices of the local football association. In this case, it is the Russian Football Union. Therefore, such cases should be considered by the RFU’s disciplinary body. UEFA won’t comment on such situations because they are beyond our jurisdiction,» the statement reads according to RIA Novosti.
