Sven-Goran Ericsson in talks with Anzhi

Former England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson can become new head coach of Anzhi Makhachkala, as announced by his agent Carlos Carvalho.

«Anzhi are a very attractive option. Sven has known the representatives of this club for a long time. Anzhi had expressed interest in him before, but now, when the Russian championship took a break, they are willing to negotiate. There is a possibility that the contract will be signed. Anzhi aim high, it fits Sven perfectly,» Carvalho said as quoted by Expressen.

However, later, in his interview to Russian newspaper Sovetsky sport Carvalho denied the existence of an offer, admitting though that Ericsson would soon come to Moscow for negotiations.

«Ericsson likes the idea of working in Russia. However, for now we have no offers from any Russian club. We don’t have a concrete proposal from Anzhi either. Maybe next week Ericsson will fly to Moscow and we’ll see,» he stated.
