All fruits and vegetables banned from Krylia Sovetov stadium in the aftermath of Roberto Carlos ‘banana incident’
Deputy head of Samara Oblast police Nikolay Rudakov revealed how the state authorities aim to prevent the incidents similar to the racially motivated banana throwing at Roberto Carlos, which happened at the local Metallurg Stadium, and admitted that the previous ‘banana man’ hasn’t been identified yet.
«We will persuade fans that they shouldn’t bring fruits and vegetables to football. But before that we have to define what kind of infringement it is, for example, to throw a banana. Football regulations have a provision which prohibits throwing of extraneous things at the pitch. But you can’t legally charge anybody with that. We can’t draw up, for example, an administrative offence report on a troublemaker.
«I believe we will eventually find the ‘banana man’. But it’s only a matter of person identification, so he would apologize to Anzhi football club and Roberto Carlos for the incident,» Rudakov said as quoted by Komsomolskaya pravda.
