Pavel Pogrebnyak may move to Sunderland from Stuttgart

VfB Stuttgart forward Pavel Pogrebnyak has reportedly become the transfer target for the English Premier League club Sunderland. According to Stuttgarter Nachrichten the Russian national team striker may move to England as soon as this summer. The amount of the possible deal has not been disclosed yet.

According to the source, Stuttgart could agree to sell Pogrebnyak because of his high salary. It estimated that he earns some 3.5 million euro per year at the German club.

Earlier Pogrebnyak’s agent Oleg Artyomov had revealed that some clubs from Germany and England are interested in his clients, mentioning Cologne, Hamburg, and Fulham. Meanwhile, Artyomov refused to comment the lates t reports on Sunderland in today’s conversation with Sports.ru reporter Vladislav Voronin.

«There really are some offers for Pogrebnyak, but today it’s all still at the negotiations stage. The interest from German and English clubs still exists. However, we haven’t received any new offers», stated Artyomov.

Pogrebnyak has joined Stuttgart in 2009 from Zenit. Last season the Russian played 26 Bundesliga matches scoring 8 goals.
