Nikolay Valuev: I don’t intend to get physical in the Russian parliament
Former WBA Heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev, who is currently serving as a deputy in the Russian Duma, insisted he won’t be tempted to apply physical force in the assembly hall.
Russian newspaper Izvestia reminded the retired boxer that there was a brawl recently between members of the ruling and opposition parties, but the sportsman maintained he wouldn’t get involved in such situation.
«It’s a question of your upbringing. Such a low way of attracting media attention is reserved for real nutcases. It’s like two old hags fighting in the kitchen in a communal flat. Chasing someone, grabbing them and applying force – it’s not for me,» admitted the Russian.
He also denied reports that a separate chair was brought into the seating area of the Duma to accommodate his size.
«It was actually a regular size seat, we just moved it back a bit, so my legs can fit. I also told them to raise the back of the chair a bit and tilt it, as my back starts hurting otherwise.»
