Fedor Emelyanenko: «My brother always lets me win»

Four-time Combat Sambo heavyweight world champion Fedor Emelyanenko spoke about the victory over his brother Aleksander in the Russian championship final on Saturday.

«I am glad to get the chance to compete in the Russian championship. It helps me maintain the rhythm in the absence of any professional challenges.»

«As for my fight with Aleksander, he let me win today. He always lets me win (smiles). Did he give a 100%? Let’s not discuss that today,» the mixed fighting champion told the R-Sport agency.

Meanwhile, Aleksander also commented on the defeat to his older brother.

«Well, I wasn’t really a defeat. We came out to fight properly, but I missed the armlock due to a lapse in concentration.»

«Who wrote the fight’s script?»

«We both did. Our aim is not to fight each other, but to prepare ourselves for other events. Fighting each other is wrong, there are plenty of other worthy opponents out there. So we decided: Fedya is older, he is the champion, and I am standing at his side. My time will come,» he told Sovetsky sport.
