Nizhny Novgorod’s Ignerski named the VTB league’s MVP for January
BC Nizhny Novgorod forward Michal Ignerski has been voted Most Valuable Player in the VTB United League this month.
According to the tournament’s official website, the Pole earned 11 points overall, while Krasnye Krylia’s American defender Brion Rush came second with 5 points and Bamba Fall of Kalev/Cramo was in third with 4.
During the month Ignerski’s Nizhniy Novgorod played in three league games and won all of them, beating Estonian Kalev/Cramo, Latvian VEF, and Lithuanian Zalgiris. The Polish forward played a major part in his team’s success, scoring an average of 22.3 points, taking 6.0 rebounds, and earning 23.7 points for effective play per game. In the match against Zalgiris Ignerski scored 27 points, getting four out of four three-pointers in the process.
