BTW, imho, current 2012 F-1 pts-system is one of the worst in racing and same is about F-1 1991-system (10-6-4-3-2-1).

The best of F-1 systems is 2003 Top-8 (10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1).

But one of CART systems is better: Top-12 (20-16-14-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1).

And one of MotoGP systems is much better than current F1, but starts from same 25:

Top-15 (25-20-16-13-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1).

As we can easy calc: 25-5, 20-4, 16-3, 13-2, 11-1, etc.

Anyway, point systems are more or less subjective. More if some drivers have no points for some tail finishes. Less if all drivers have points for all finishes.

We all know some objective systems, such as: Average Finish, Most distance, Most distance led, Quality Passes, and of cause No of Wins, or Top 5s, or Top 10s.

Wins is the easiest method - and the most subjective of Obj.

Average Finish is very objective - but for one Subj race \ track.

And we know the "eureka" - Drivers Distance / divide / Average Finish.

Example: 1st - 300-mile race.

1st Alfa Bobby won and he has 300/1 = 300 pts. +300k$.

2nd Beta Bobby, 300/2 = 150 pts. +150k$.

3rd Gamma Bobby, 300/3 = 100 pts. +100k$.

4th Delta Bobby, 300/4 = 75 pts. +75k$.

5th Vega Bobby, 300/5 = 60 pts. +60k$.

6th Ricky Bobby, 300/6 = 50 pts. +50k$.

Tricky games will be in 2nd, 3rd, etc races. Money$ are given after each race.

But points are calculated each time with new basis of whole Distance & Aver.Fin.

If next is 2nd - 600-mile race and finish is like:

1st Ricky-B, 2nd Vega-B, 3rd Delta-B, 4th Gamma-B, 5th Beta-B, 6th Alfa-B.

Standings after 2 races (300+600) 900-miles combined.

Any Driver: Distance / Finishes combined * Races made.

Ricky 900/7*2 = 257 pts

Alfa 900/7*2 = 257 pts

Vega 900/7*2 = 257 pts

Beta 900/7*2 = 257 pts

Delta 900/7*2 = 257 pts

Gamma 900/7*2 = 257 pts

All drivers have same equal distance (900) and all have same Aver.Fin.(3,5).

The battle is very tight and two winners have only 1 Top 5 each.

If any driver has +1 mile he is a bit 1st. If -1 mile - a bit last 6th.

Fun with AF - if a driver has just a bit* better AF - he has much* more points.

Money i$ funny:

1st Ricky 50 + 600 = 650

2nd Alfa 300 + 100 = 400

3rd Vega 60 + 300 = 360

4th Delta 75 + 200 = 275

5th Beta 150 + 120 = 270

6th Gamma 100 + 150 = 250

A$ we know it i$ much better to win Long race$ with Big purses.

P.S. Daytona since 2000 must be 1000-mile race. =)

And with 2 drivers in 1 car. And 100 laps or 200 miles max for 1 driver exchange.
