MotoGP меняет определение результатов после красных флагов
The 2022 season has something new in the rules that dictate the results of races that are constantly interrupted by red flags. This decision was made earlier this month in the Grand Prix Committee and has now been officially announced.
In the past, the end result announced in a situation where the race ended with a red flag was consistent with the classification of the last lap on which all drivers crossed the finish line - even if someone was half a lap or more from the leader, which led to the classification of a return to an interruption, even if most of them have already cut the finish line at red flag height.
From now on, and with immediate effect, when the race ends in a sequence of red flags, the final classification is determined by the position of the driver's last crossing of the finish line: whoever did so on the same lap as the leader is classified in that order in the partial classification. Another partial classification is the classification of those who have not yet scored a goal on the same lap as the leader who will indicate the position taken in the previous pass over the goal line. The two partial classifications are combined to produce the final result.
For all intents and purposes, the system that has already been applied applies in cases where a race has ended under a red flag after the leader has shortened a goal in a normal chess flag situation.
