JCB to supply cranes for F1 Korea Grand Prix

United Kingdom-based multinational JCB will support the Formula 1 Korea Grand Prix by providing 18 cranes for support, the F1 Korea Grand Prix Organizing Committee said in March. Governor of South Jeolla Province and the head of committee, Park Joon-yung, JCB Sales Asia Pacific head Peter Walls and Choi Hyun-Youp of Jaein International Co. signed a contract on March 14 at the offices of the South Jeolla Provincial government. Under the agreement, JCB will provide 18 cranes capable of lifting as much as 1,250 kilograms at once, pay the cost of shipping, fuel, parts and materials for the cranes and support driver education.

In return, the committee will display JCB’s corporate logo during the race, hire crane drivers and pay labor costs and insurance for the cranes. The committee expects to save up to 1500 million won through the agreement. Established in 1945, JCB is a Rocester-based international firm manufacturing equipment for the construction, demolition and agricultural sectors.
