Construction of Russian F1 circuit in Sochi will begin in August 2011
Alexei Agafonov, vice-governor of the Krasnodar Krai and president of the Motor Sports Federation of Krasnodar Krai, Russia, has announced that the construction of the first facilities for the Formula 1 circuit in Sochi will begin in the middle of August 2011.
«The main part of the construction will be completed by 2013. The construction of some of the buildings will begin in the middle of this August. These are the medical center, the building for the teams’ accommodation, and the complex of boxes. These facilities will be of double purpose, and will be also used for the 2014 Olympic Games. Full completion is expected immediately after the Olympics are held, while the circuit will be ready by the autumn of 2014», stated Agafonov.
The vice-governor has added that a part of the documents required for the construction of the first facilities was already submitted for review.
Also, according to him, the F1 circuit in Sochi will be partially temporary.
«Half of the circuit will be permanent and the other half will go through the adjoining territory», Agafonov stated to RIA Novosti.
