Salavat Yulaev’s Radulov outraged by a break in play: It’s hockey on a Russian farm!

Salavat Yulaev forward Alexander Radulov expressed his outrage at the break in play, caused by a hole in the ice, during his team’s 0-3 defeat at the hands of Ak Bars.

«The pause in the game was inconceivable – it’s like playing in a Russian «kolkhoz» [a Soviet collective farm – Sports.ru]! I don’t have words to describe this,» complained the Russian forward, who still has a contract with the NHL outfit Nashville Predators.

«I get that it was the same for both sides, but the pause helped Ak Bars. We returned to the ice with no warm-up, our attack didn’t come off and straight away we conceded – 0-2. After that the Kazan club were home and dry. The arena staff responsible for this aren’t doing their job. Somebody has to take the blame. With eight thousand spectators in the stands and the game televised across the country, and here we are, playing farm hockey! What do you think happened? Someone came out with a drill and made a hole in the ice, with water pouring out of it. And we had to wait a whole hour for them to fix it. I am speechless!» Radulov fumed.
