Capitals forward Ovechkin pleased with comeback victory against Canadiens

Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin, speaking to Sport-Expressed, shared his thoughts on the club’s win over their Canadian opponents.

«I didn’t play great today – missing three games makes it difficult. But I am still satisfied, as I got plenty of playing time, got the feel of the puck and the taste of physical battle.»

«There was an amusing episode in the second period – I saw the replay later and had a laugh. I won the puck in the opponent’s zone and was about to shoot as I sensed a tap on the ice. I assumed it was Semin and passed without looking. As it turned out I was wrong. So I missed the chance for a clear shot, but then again, If I was in a better shape, that sort of thing wouldn’t happen.»

Earlier during an interview to Washington Post the Russian forward admitted he was pleased to return to the game after his suspension.

«I am pretty excited. I’m fresh. I feel like I miss hockey a lot,» Ovechkin said. «It’s pretty hard to watch the games, you can’t help your teammates. You can’t help the guys to win the games,»
