Leonid Slutsky: Dzagoev should be fit for Euro-2012

CSKA Moscow boss Leonid Slutsky commented on his team’s fading title hopes and claimed the injured midfielder Alan Dzagoev may recover in time for Euro-2012.

«Everyone seems to be confident that Zenit have the title in the bag. What do you think?»

«Well, they haven’t won it mathematically yet, though they are very close. But we will keep on fighting till the end and the upcoming face-off with the league leaders will be crucial.»

«How is Honda’s recovery progressing?»

«He is training individually at the moment. His injury sadly turned out to be more serious than we’d anticipated. Keisuke is a true professional and he will do all he can to return to action. We cannot give any specific deadlines, but hopefully he’ll be back soon.»

«What about Alan Dzagoev?»

«He had a surgery recently. He won’t play in the league this season, but the cast will be removed in early may and after that the recovery will take another two or three weeks.»

«Does that mean he will be ready to go to Poland and the Ukraine?»

«Yes, according to our forecast.»

«Defender Vasin hasn’t been able to return this year, how is he doing?»

«He plays for the reserves, but don’t forget that he’s been out for a whole year, so it’s difficult for him. At the moment he cannot compete with our first-choice defenders, but he still has time to show his worth at the club,» Slutsky told R-Sport.
