Cost of Kazan stadium construction reaches €225m, twice as planned initially

The construction of the new stadium in Kazan for the 2013 Universiade and the 2018 World Football Cup will require some 9 billion roubles (€225 million), which is twice the amount originally planned, Gazeta.ru reported.

According to the source, one of the causes for such an increase in costs is the poor quality concrete the builders used.

The name of the new arena is still unknown. The total area of the stadium will be 110 thousand square meters, and it will have 45,000 seats. Construction is schaduled to be completed in December 2012.
