Already constructed part of Zenit’s new stadium has to be rebuilt

The already constructed part of Zenit’s new stadium will have to be partly rebuilt. The modifications to the arena were caused by the fact that the customer – the Construction Committee of the St. Petersburg Government – decided to go for another type of roof.

Mosproekt-4, the project’s designer, had previously designed a sliding roof, which would only cover the stands, but now the customer requires one that would cover the whole stadium including the pitch. Due to that the bearing structural elements will be additionally reinforced, according to Izvestia.

According to the newspaper, the roof will be manufactured in about six months, while its installation will take 12 to 18 months.

It’s worth noting that the estimated cost of the construction of Zenit’s new stadium is $ 1.1 billion.
