Russia announce squad for Euro-2012 qualifiers against Slovakia and Andorra
Russia head coach Dick Advocaat announced the names of the players to be called up for the Euro 2012 qualifying round matches against Slovakia and Andorra.
It’s worth noting that Dynamo Moscow midfiedler Alexander Samedov recieved his first call-up. In total the squad includes 20 players, according to the official site of the Russian Football Union.
The list of players is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Vyacheslav Malafeev (Zenit St. Petersburg), Anton Shunin (Dynamo Moscow).
Defenders: Alexander Anyukov (Zenit St. Petersburg), Alexey Berezutsky, Vasily Berezutsky, Sergey Ignashevich (all – CSKA Moscow), Yury Zhirkov (Anzhi), Roman Shishkin (Lokomotiv Moscow).
Midfielders: Diniyar Bilyaletdinov (Everton), Denis Glushakov (Lokomotiv), Igor Denisov, Konstantin Zyryanov, Roman Shirokov (all – Zenit St. Petersburg), Alan Dzagoev (CSKA Moscow), Alexander Samedov, Igor Semshov (both – Dynamo Moscow).
Forwards: Andrey Arshavin (Arsenal), Alexander Kerzhakov (Zenit St. Petersburg), Roman Pavlyuchenko (Tottenham Hotspur), Pavel Pogrebnyak (Stuttgart).
