Welliton’s ban cut down to three matches
The RFU Appeals Committee has cut down the six-match ban imposed previously on Spartak Moscow forward Welliton, having considered the club’s appeal at its today’s meeting. The Brazilian’s ban will now make three matches, according to Sovetsky sport.
Welliton had been sanctioned by the Disciplinary Committee a few weeks ago for his challenge on CSKA’s Igor Akinfeev, which left the Russian national team goalkeeper sidelined for six months due to a serious knee injury.
The Brazilian already served a part of his ban, missing one of those matches, against Amkar. Thus, the Spartak Moscow forward will miss the games against Krylia Sovetov Samara (this Sunday) and FC Krasnodar. On October 2 Welliton will be able to take part in the match against Zenit.
