Zenit in 3rd pot for Champions League group stage draw, CSKA in 2nd

After the end of the Champions League 4th qualifying round matches all 32 participants of the group round became known. These will be divided into groups at tomorrow’s draw in Nyon, Switzerland.

According to their rating, CSKA Moscow will be seeded into the second pot. Zenit St. Petersburg had a chance to feature in the same pot, but because of today’s victories by Arsenal, Benfica and O.Lyon the Russian club went down into the third pot. Arsenal’s success against Udinese also forced Milan out of the first pot and down into the second one.

Teams from the same country can’t be drawn in the same group at this stage of the Champions League. Thus, Zenit and CSKA won’t play each other at least until the play-offs.
