Pavel Pogrebnyak: Kuranyi is good at learning Russian obscene words

VfB Stuttgart forward Pavel Pogrebnyak explained why getting ready to the Russian national team qualifying match with Armenia he is training with Dynamo Moscow, not Zenit St. Petersburg for whom he used to play back in 2007-2009, and shared his impressions on the training process at the Moscow-based team.

«Originally, I thought of training with Zenit. But then I decided to find an option in Moscow. Firstly, my parents and most of my friends live here. Secondly, I live nearby the Dynamo camp in Novogorsk. I phoned their head coach Sergei Silkin and asked if I could train a bit with his team. He said: «Sure, no problem.» I’d like to thank him and the entire Dynamo management very much.»

«And what are your impressions?»

«I’ve never been to Dynamo training ground before. It is stunningly beautiful both outside and inside. Bath facilities, a gym, a swimming pool. I did not even want to leave it and go home! As for training sessions themselves, they are quite intense and interesting. Can’t help feeling myself a little strange hearing the Russian language everywhere around me.»

«Do you practice German? There is such a possibility in Dynamo.»

«That’s right. I do communicate a little with Kuranyi, Misimovic, Lomic. By the way, Kevin has really succeeded in studying Russian obscenities. He has already shown his knowledge to me. Voronin is constantly joking. In general, the atmosphere in the team is very nice. I think Dynamo will compete for the medals this season.»

«By the way, did not you have a desire to take a vacation for a few days?»

«No, because the national team coaches ordered that the footballers playing abroad have to maintain the shape at Russian clubs, so I didn’t even consider the possibility of having a holiday. Everything for the benefit of the team.»

«A year and a half ago you could be transferred to Dynamo. Has anybody reminded you of that?»

«The thought that I could be a part of this team did come to me. But I’ve never thought seriously about it. There is no point in remembering that now,» said the player in the interview with Sovetsky Sport.
