Povetkin’s manager admits possibility of a fight with Chisora
Vladimir Khryunov, the manager of Russian heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin, maintained that there is a chance his client will fight British boxer Derek Chisora, whose licence was recently revoked.
«At the moment there is a problem – Derek doesn’t have a licence after his behaviour in the run up to the fight with Klitchko. Anyone would agree that he was competitive in the fight with Vitaly, so Povetkin vs Chisora could be an interesting clash,» Khryunov said.
According to the manager, the fight could take place next autumn, after Povetkin’s summer title defence against U.S. veteran heavyweight Hasim Rahman.
Meanwhile, the British boxer himself also claimed a fight with Povetkin was a possibility, but not in the near future.
«One day I will, but not now,» Chisora said, adding: «My next competition is with myself, because I need to lose weight. I’m going to be in the gym for the next month and a half. The Cannes film festival is on, so I can’t go looking like this.»
