CSKA- Fenerbahce scouting notes

It looked like hosts were not focused to take a good start of the leaders battle making 7 turnovers and missing 27 points in the first quarter. Something went wrong for them from the very beginning.

Rebound CSKA lost rebound  26 VS 37 and it became crucial factor. Itoudis swithed big guys, they tried to get help on defensive boards from guards -  6 Rebounds from DeColo+Higgins+ Rodriguez, but there was no way.

Thompson – Melli and Vesely grabbed 22 balls for the three and conquered the above ring space completely. Nicolo Melli added a final winning tipped touch.

Rotation CSKA used 10 players, though Andrey Vorontsevich could help more than 2.23 minutes on court.

Fenerbahce played 7 guys game if not counting 1 minute of Melih Mahmutoglu who was not mentioned in stats anyway.

Team play

Fenerbahce created 27 assists vs 20 CSKA, that means they found better solutions on offensive half courts while forcing shots and distributing balls. Moscow team scored more from individual drives, second chance attempts and spot and step back shots.

Character

CSKA showed it’s trademark character and managed to cover the gaps ( 11 points) several times during the game vs the Euroleague winner, which means they have passion, faith and resources to collect big wins.

Players

Jan Vesely had the best and probably most valuable performance this season scoring 31, rebounding 5 with 2 steals. He dominated on offensive half court slamming all the way. He also showed decent agility within paint and managed to support high game tempo.

Nando De Colo despite of mistakes is on his way to his best shape. He scored 18 points, shooting 100% from FT and 3 pointers. You still can't contest his fast release moment. This universal combo guard has all his miraculous games ahead.
