Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation announced that it will invite Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova to compete in the Qatar Total Open to be held at Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex from February 12-18.

In a statement today, Saad Al Muhannadi, the tournament's director, said that the organizing committee headed by Nasser Ghanim Al Khulaifi has decided to invite Sharapova to participate in the tournament alongside the top ranked women's tennis players.

The top players who confirmed their participation are Simona Halep, Caroline Wozniacki, Garbine Muguruza, Elina Svitolina, Venus Williams, Karolina Pliskova, Jelena Ostapenko, Caroline Garcia, Johanna Konta, and Coco Vandeweghe. (QNA)
