"May she hit her forehand long and her backhand wide until her family gather for Xmas cheer. May her volley implode before it crosses the net. She thinks she is classy, she thinks she is clever. In fact, she’s a boor".
Loudmouth Bouchard’s lack of class and style

Everybody is troubled by performance-enhancing drugs. For many they have spoiled sport simply because what takes place in a contest might be nothing but an illusion.
Sprinters who couldn’t beat a marathon field over 100m appear next season requiring a parachute to stop them from charging into the stadium wall, running a tick over eight seconds for the 400m hurdles.
That’s why everybody should support the concept of revising world records as proposed by European Athletics. That’s to effectively wipe all records set before 2005 when so many times and distances fell to athletes engorged by performance-enhancing drugs.
The idea is radical and yet to be discussed by the International Association of Athletics Federations, but it is a worthy proposal.
At the very least it shows the world sport authorities are sensitive to the public’s loss of interest in what people can run, leap and throw. And it underlines how we must support what testing methods and protocols are in place and what results they record.
It is why from now until the end of the year we hope every one of Eugenie Bouchard’s serves hits the back fence on the full. That every one of the Canadian’s returns of serve hits no higher than halfway up the net. Is that unkind of us?
The lack of compassion for the 23-year-old, a crowd favourite at the Australian Open, is sudden but gets deeper every time she opens her mouth.
Bouchard is a fine player, though her best results came three years ago when she made the semi-finals of the 2014 Australian and French Opens before losing the Wimbledon final to Petra Kvitova. She reached the fourth round of the US Open for what was described as a breakout year, peaking at No 5 in the world rankings.
Since then her form has fallen away and she had to overcome the effects of a dangerous fall in the locker rooms during the 2015 US Open.
That’s why her second-round win over Maria Sharapova in the Madrid Open was important and marked her first victory over the five-time grand-slam champion in five contests.
While it perhaps marks a resurgence in Bouchard’s game — she is now ranked 60 — it definitely exposed a lack of class and style. She’s a loudmouth.
After the match against Sharapova — playing her second tournament since returning from a 15-month drug ban — Bouchard called the Russian “a cheater”. She claims she is only saying out loud what many of the women players think but hold their tongues.
“I definitely had some extra motivation going into today,” said Bouchard. “I was actually quite inspired before the match because I had a lot of players coming up to me privately wishing me good luck.
“Players I don’t normally speak to, getting a lot of texts from people in the tennis world that were just rooting for me. I wanted to do it for myself but also for all these people. It showed me that most people have my opinion and they were just maybe scared to speak out, but privately I’ve gotten a lot of support, so I was inspired and motivated to play.”
That might be the case but volume and outrage alone don’t mean people are right. Sharapova tested positive to meldonium at Rod Laver Arena during the 2016 Australian Open. The drug had been prescribed for the 30-year-old since 2006 but it was placed on the WADA banned list at the start of 2016.
WADA experts claim meldonium helps blood flow; Sharapova said she took the drug on the advice of her doctors to treat a hereditary heart condition and diabetes.
Sharapova was banned by the International Tennis Federation for two years but on appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport that ban was cut to 15 months. She returned to play in last month’s Stuttgart Open. Neither the ITF nor CAS found Sharapova took the drug to deliberately improve her results.
After Bouchard defeated Sharapova in three sets, 7-5 2-6 6-4, she made her way to the net where she remained silent when Sharapova congratulated her. But Bouchard told the media afterwards: “I think she’s been playing really well in her so-called comeback, if you want to call it that.”
Bouchard says a player banned for doping sets a bad example for children when they return after serving their suspension. What message does that send to children? Ban dopers for life is Bouchard’s anthem.
Well, it would be until she finds herself returning a positive sample to some bizarre peptide in a supplement she took in good faith. She won’t be voluntarily handing in her racquet and sweat bands at the desk. No siree.
What also makes Bouchard whine is that Sharapova has come back into tournaments through wildcards. Unfair, she says. But why?
Sharapova is a wildcard. She might be hard to like, loud on the court and haughty off it, but the public want to see her play, shrieking or not. Sharapova has won five grand slam events. Promoters want her in their tournaments and to keep her out would be to continue to punish her for something for which she has already served time.
It is good Bouchard is a loud
как хорошо, когда люди озвучивают правду. Только для этого не нужны оскорбления, а в статье есть эти эмоции))
