Maria Sharapova’s comeback will give the women’s game a slice of freshness

Maria Sharapova is one of the most high-profile athletes on and off the tennis court, and her comeback is eagerly awaited

Sharapova last competed in a Major at the Australian Open in 2016. She bowed out in the quarters but her performance was later disqualified following the WADA substance controversy. It means that if and when she plays in the French Open, it will be after a dry spell of missing six Majors (she also did not compete in US Open 2015).

The women’s game is badly lacking the personalities and rivalries that would help raise its profile. It has been very much a one-woman show as Serena has gone from strength to strength without getting any serious challenge for any length of time.

Sharapova has also been no match for Serena, losing 19 of her 21 matches against the American champion but she will bring tremendous interest once she is back on court. It is fair to say that anyone who has won five Majors will do that, let alone the fact that Sharapova has a really appealing personality.

Sharapova is only 29 and is good enough to win a bunch of Majors going forward. It may not be just Serena but her own self that may pose the biggest challenge for the Russian ace.

Почему не в теме? По мне, дак как раз он в теме. Ведь вопрос не в том, что сказали Цибулкова с Младенович, а когда? Вынашивали, выждали и "пнули лежачего". А до этого молчали и мило улыбались на камеру. ? Вспомните интервью Маши с Цибулковой? Веселуха, как две подружки щебетали. Вот где цинизм то! При этом они считают себя "героинями" и не понимают всю низость своего поступка. В разведку с ними я бы не пошла. Бог им судья!

Как же Вы вот тогда можете объяснить, что прадед Машиного агента Льва Кассиля, Лев Кассиль ещё до войны (Второй Мировой)написал книгу "Вратарь республики", где главный герой был таким же "меченым", как его будущий правнук (имел пятно седых волос)?

- вероятно эта болезнь была знакомой у семьи Льва (прадеда Машиного агента Льва Кассиля;, она наследственной;

- зная эту болезнь писатель использовал ее чтобы надарить своего героя-вратаря интересным признаком;

Нет, не читал ничего. Сегодня нашел фильм "Вратарь" буду смотреть, хотя он очень старый.

Пожалуй Вы правы... Я было подумал, что родственное, но не знал, что так часто встречается и засомневался... А Вы не читали его произведения о спорте? В детстве я много их прочёл...
