Monica Puig Vs Maria Sharapova will clash in a mid-December match in San Juan. It will be the first match for the Grand Slam champion after being banned from substance abuse for nearly a year. The Russian’s exhibition match against the Puerto Rican player will be a real test for the former since she will be returning to the international tennis after a long gap.
MONICA PUIG VS MARIA SHARAPOVA – WHO WILL WIN?
According to Blasting News, Puig is currently riding high and is a hot favorite to win. The young player recently won an Olympic gold medal in the summer games at Rio. Last month, Rio Olympics also honored her with the Best Female Athlete title.

So, surely Monica Puig has more chances to emerge a winner between the two players. Even then, no one can rule out the powerful play of Sharapova who has won the Grand Slam four times. Her experience is going to come handy when she makes a comeback against the gold medalist.
SHARAPOVA EAGER TO GET BACK ON COURT
Monica Puig Vs Maria Sharapova will play a Monica Puig Invitational exhibition match. And it seems that no one is more excited than the Grand Slam Champion. It has been a forced exile for the 29-year-old Russian tennis star.
And she is now just too eager to get back to the court. Last month, Sharapova tweeted about her excitement to join Puig in San Juan 12/15. The match is already generating a lot of hype and interest among the fans. And understandingly so, because fans would like to see their old Sharapova getting back in action against the current fire Puig.
However, no one can underestimate Puig’s talent. Currently, she is on a winning streak. Puig has beaten some of the best players from the tennis world at the Rio Olympics. She even managed to overcome the challenge from the world number 1 Angelique Kerber.
According to Lob & Smash, the Puerto Rican played some of the best tennis of her career at Rio. On the other hand, Sharapova has shown her greatness before. But will her form dazzle during the upcoming Monica Puig Vs Maria Sharapova mid-December match?

The four-time Grand Slam champion will face the 2016 Rio Olympics gold medalist from Puerto Rico.

Russian player Maria Sharapova and Puerto Rican player Monica #Puig had very contrasting experiences in 2016. For #Sharapova, the calendar year will be remembered negatively for her positive result for a banned substance early in the season, a test result that will ultimately cost her more than a year of her athletic prime. For Puig, she had an extreme high point as she won the Olympic gold medal in Rio at the summer games. In November, she was also honored as the Best Female Athlete at the Rio Olympics. For certain her tears of joy from winning in Brazil will remain one of the lasting images of women’s #Tennis from the 2016 season.
Sharapova and Puig will play in San Juan
Sharapova and Puig are scheduled to play an exhibition match later this month at the Monica Puig Invitational. Sharapova tweeted about the news back on November 15th: "Excited to join Monica Puig in San Juan 12/15 in an exhibition match at The Coliseo de Puerto Rico." The match takes on some interest, because it will give tennis fans a chance to see Sharapova in action, a player who fans have missed since early 2016. The match result won’t be recognized by the WTA Tour, but Sharapova leads their series 1-0 with a straight-sets win on clay from Rome in 2014.
