Yevgeny Plushenko: I’m not afraid to lose, I’ve already done a lot for my country
Olympic gold medalist in men’s figure skating Yevgeny Plushenko spoke about his process of recovery from injuries and current fitness and admitted he isn’t afraid of poor performances.
«I give all my efforts to the work. I must prepare, but moderately, without overdoing things. My leg has just healed. Thank God, I feel normal at last. Until it happened I used to wake up in the morning and feel my whole body ached. Now I wake up and feel the desire to walk and even run to the training. Finally the ligaments and joints are in order.
«I’ve said already: I’m not afraid to lose. My goal is the 2014 Olympics. I want to take part in them. Yes, we can even say I want to set a record. I want to be on the podium, that’s my goal. But I’m not afraid to lose, I’ve already done a lot for this sport, for the country, and for myself.
«I live and enjoy the sporting life, enjoy my favorite sport. Of course, it’s hard, awfully hard. I think I’ll write a book after Sochi about the Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014, and tell how it happened.
«This season I’ve already retired and came back three times. Hopefully, this time everything will be OK», Plushenko said an interview for Russia 2 TV channel.
