Vladislav Tretyak: Ovechkin will be in Slovakia in a day or two

The head of Russian Hockey Federation Vladislav Tretyak has revealed that the Russian national team has called up Alexander Ovechkin, whose Washington Capitals have been eliminated from the Stanley Cup yesterday. Tretyak also said that another Russian forward from the Capitals, Alexander Semin, has not been invited yet.

«We have already called Ovechkin. Now he is sleeping, but Alex gave us his consent. So we advised him to buy the ticket as fast as he can. Tomorrow they have a team meeting at Washington. And the day after tomorrow, hopefully, Ovechkin will be already here,» said Tretyak as quoted by Sovetsky Sport.

«Why have you invited Ovechkin only rather than the Ovechkin – Semin duo?

«For now we have decided to call up Ovechkin only.»

«Does it mean you are keeping the second reserve place in the squad for Pavel Datsyuk, whose Detroit Red Wings are trailing to San Jose 0:3 in their series?

«It’s all up to the coaches. For now we have only invited Ovechkin.»
