Hannu Jortikka appointed as head coach of Amur Khabarovsk
Hannu Jortikka will be the new coach of Amur Khabarovsk, according to the official website of the KHL club.
The 54-year-old Finn was in charge of the Finland youth team in 1987 and won the gold of the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, which was marred by the infamous ‘Punch-up in Piestany’ – the mass brawl between Canada and the USSR teams.
Before Amur, Jortikka has been working at TPS, HPK, SC Bern, and Malmo, having won the Finnish SM-liiga with TPS for three years in a row. During 2009-10 season, Jortikka has been working with the Finnish youth team. For the last two years he has been the head coach of Jokerit.
In 2006, Jortikka was introduced into the finnish hockey Hall of Fame as a coach.
