Malkin reaches 50 goal milestone and wins Art Ross trophy

Pittsburg Penguins centre Yevgeny Malkin scored the 50th regular season goal in the game against Philadelphia Flyers and won the prestigious Art Ross trophy for the second time in his career.

The Russian star also earned his 59th assist of the season, bring his point tally up to 109 (50+59), while last season’s winner Daniel Sedin had only 104 points to his name.

Malkin joins the long list of Penguins, who managed to pass the 50 goals and 50 assists marks in one season; others include Sid Crosby, Jaromir Jagr (twice), Mario Lemieux (six times), Kevin Stevens, Pierre Larouche, and Jean Pronovost.
