Vityaz Chekhov head coach fights fans during KHL game in Minsk
Vityaz Chekhov head coach Andrey Nazarov received a match penalty during the KHL regular game against Dinamo Minsk (2:3) after engaging in a fight with the local fans in the stands.
In the last minute of the third period several fights broke out on the ice, which resulted in Vityaz defender Alexander Sazonov and forwards Kip Brennan and Nick Tarnaski getting 2+5+20 penalty minutes each. After the fights the fans showered the ice and Vityaz bench with plastic bottles, some of which hit Nazarov, infuriating him.
With seven seconds from time Nazarov would hang on the barrier separating the stands and the bench, trying to hit the fans with a stick. Two Vityaz players, Mikhail Anisin and Artemy Panarin, would help him in that. All three earned match penalties as a result.
Also, leaving in the bench Nazarov would give fingers to Minsk fans.
It’s worth noting that during the match the guests got 182 penalty minutes, while the home team only got 2 minutes.
