Robert Nilsson signs for Torpedo from Salavat Yulaev
Former Salavat Yulaev forward Robert Nilsson joined another KHL club Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, according to his new team’s official website.
The Swede was first put on waiver draft by Salavat Yulaev, then assigned to their farm club Toros, until Torpedo decided to sign him as a replacement for the injured Ryan Vesce.
Speaking about the reasons for his lack of success this season, Nilsson blamed it on Salavat’s new coach Sergey Mikhalyov.
«I think it was because the coaches wanted me to play in an unusual style. Herein lies the root of my poor performances this season.
«Basically, I think it’s the coach [to blame for Salavat’s poor run this season – Sports.ru]. He is the most responsible for putting the players together in a correct combination and ensuring they show the maximum of what they can. Apparently, Salavat Yulaev’s coaches don’t quite succeed at that now,» Nilsson said quoted by Hot Ice.
This season, the 26-year-old Swede took part in 15 games for Salavat, scoring 5 (0+5) points.
