Yemelin’s agent: Alexey will stay at Montreal Canadiens

Don Meehan, the agent of the Montreal Canadiens defenceman Alexey Yemelin, stated his client is going to begin the season in the NHL and confirmed the reports claiming that Yemelin’s contract has a provision enabling him to return to the KHL.

«We met with Gauthier, and Pierre told me that he was satisfied with Alexey’s performance at the moment and was glad that he’s progressing. I expect the managers to be happy with Yemelin’s signing. Very soon the club will have to make its decision on Alexey’s status for the upcoming season.»

«Do you think it will be positive, and Yemelin will stay at the club?»

«Yes, I think so.»

«Can you confirm that Yemelin’s contract includes a provision, according to which he is entitled to return to the KHL, if he fails to make it into the Canadiens’ first team? So, is it either the NHL, or the CHL, and no third option?»

«Yes, there is such a provision. But I think Yemelin will play in the NHL,» Meehan said to Sport-Express.
