Alexander Medvedev: Croatia’s Medvescak may join the KHL, there’s also a Bratislava club and other candidates

The head of the KHL Alexander Medvedev revealed what clubs may join the league in the nearest future. When asked who will be the 26th team after HC Milano join for 2012-2013 season, Medvedev said there are good chances that Croatia would be represented in the KHL.

«There are several candidates. During my vacation I met the representatives of Medvescak, a Croatian сlub from Zagreb, who have excellent facilities, including two palaces with 16,000 8,000 seats. During the matches of the local championship these arenas are full.

«Our Slavic brothers have proudly reminded me that the NHL star Joe Sakic was actually a Croat whose surname is Šakić. Also, the AHL has dozens of Balkan natives with dual citizenship who dream to play in their homeland. In addition to Medvescak we are in talks with a club from Bratislava and some other candidates,» Medvedev said to Sport-Express.
