Matt thank you for agreeing to the interview. Please tell us a little about yourself.

Спасибо что решили взять у меня интервью, мне 31 год я живу с моей девушкой и 2 детьми в Швеции, я большой поклонник команды Ливерпуль, стараюсь не пропускать ни одной игры, я наполовину Швед? наполовину Ливерпулец ( мой папа из Ливерпуля ) отсюда идет моя любовь к этой команде.
Thank you for interviewing me. I'm 31 years old and live with my girlfriend and our two children in Sweden. I'm a massive Liverpool FC supporter and I rarely miss a game. I'm half Swedish and half Scouser (my dad is from Liverpool) so that is where my love for Liverpool comes from.
What brings you to the hobby and how many years you've already collect ?

I bought my first pack of cards back in 1994. The Upper Deck World Cup cards. I collected that set for a couple of years before I moved on to ice hockey cards which I collected until my early teens. But I kind of lost interest in the hobby due to the huge supply of hockey cards, it was nothing unique about the cards. I started buying some packs of football cards again every World Cup. I eventually started buying "full-time" again about 4 years ago when my son started collecting and I got nostalgia trips. Due to my support of Liverpool FC my focus was always on Liverpool although I bought other teams and players as well. But for the past 3 years it basically got too expensive to buy every card so I decided to strictly focus on LFC as my PC.
On what subject your collection of cards ?

So as I answered before I only concentrate on Liverpool FC now and I want all there is. But I do keep an extra eye out for Steven Gerrard cards and jersey cards.
How many cards already has your collection ?

All together with all cards counted for (football, ice hockey, basketball, baseball and American Football) I have got close to 20 000 cards. But my Liverpool FC collection estimates almost 5000 items including cards, stickers, oddities and figurines. Now I'm trying to sell off my non Liverpool cards (including a 450 card Wayne Gretzky collection) to be able to buy more Liverpool.
Which cards are most dear to you? Maybe this card, which was the most difficult to reach, or that you receive unexpectedly card ?

Сложно ответить, мне нравятся все мои карты, но есть кончено карты которые более дороги мне, это карты новичка Steven Gerrard и автограф, также полный сет Futera FX который было очень сложно получить.
That's a hard one I love all my cards but I have got a couple cards more dear to me than others. The different Steven Gerrard rookies as well as my Gerrard auto. Also the entire Futera FX set is very dear to me since it was sooo hard to get my hands on.
What year of release is the oldest card in your collection ?

How do you most like to receive a card in his collection, and why ? (We mean buying individual cards, participate in the breaks, opening boxes)

Получаю удовольствие от онлайн аукционов, мне нравиться побеждать и нравится охота.
I get a real kick out of winning online auctions for certain card. I like to win and I like the hunt.
How do you keep your collection of cards ?
Как вы храните свою коллекцию карточек ?
Matt ( Мэтт ):
Мои самые ценные карты и предметы коллекции хранятся в one-touch holders и toaploders, все это выставлено на витринах, фигурки храню на полках, другие карты храню в альбом , наклейки и карты маленьких-больших размеров в toaploders и в коробках.My most valuable cards and rarities I keep in one-touches and toploaders in display cabinets and some on shelves, I also keep my figurines on the shelves. My other cards I keep in albums in sleeves. As for my stickers and small-sized/large-sized cards I keep those in toploaders in boxes.
As family and friends relate to your hobbies ?

Well my son does collect cards to some extent and my brother used to collect cards as well when we were young so he can relate to the feelings associated with collecting cards. He is a massive LFC fan as well but collects jerseys (he has got about 30 of them)
What obstacles and difficulties can trap collector cards from Sweden ?

В отличии от Америки у нас не развито хобби ( там конечно это больше ), у нас практически нет карточных магазинов, некоторые карты можно приобрести в магазинах игрушек, заправочных станциях, когда я был молодым в моем городе был карточный магазин сейчас скучаю по атмосфере запаху и встреч общению с другими коллекционерами лицом к лицу.
It is a rather underground hobby unlike in America (where it is at least bigger) so we don't have many card shops. If we want to buy cards it is either from toy stores, petrol stations or online. When I was young we used to have a card shop in my city and I miss the feeling and smell going into one of those and meet other collectors face to face.
Did you have any interesting or funny incident associated with a hobby ?

Мне удалось взять несколько автографов, один из них был единственным игроков Швеции который когда либо выступал за Ливерпуль, это Glenn Hysén, я являюсь президентом фанатского движения в своем городе и мне удалось организовать мероприятие с Гленном, остановившись у меня на ночь и замерзнув ночью, он не воспользовался одеялом а одел майку на который оставил автограф для меня, забыв об этом утром он сложил ее в сумку и увез домой в Гетеборг захватив как я потом понял еще одну майку без автографа, обратно свою майку с автографом я так не получил, вернулась майка только без автографа.
Well I have managed to get a couple of IP autos from former Liverpool players one of whom was the only Sweden to have ever played for Liverpool, Glenn Hysén. I'm the president of the local Liverpool supporters group so I organized an event with Glenn in my hometown. He stayed at my place that night so after the event we went back to my place with some friends of mine and had one or two beers to many. Later he slept on my sofa and I had got him a blanket he could use. But instead of putting it over himself when he woke up in the middle of the night because he was cold, he put on my Liverool jersey he had signed earlier in the evening. Next morning when he got dressed he fogot it was mine and put it in his bag and took it back home to Gothenburg. Did I get my jersey back? No, but I got one of my other jersey back which he also apparently managed to stuff down his bag and I didn't even realize it was gone until I got it back thinking it would be the other jersey he had slept in.
What do you recommend beginners collectors ?

Не сравнивать свою коллекцию с другими, это может отвлечь вас и вы не поймете свое направление в коллекционирование, сосредоточьтесь на своей коллекции, не важно простые это карты или супер дорогие, ничего плохого в простых картах нет и не стоит думать, что вы плохой коллекционер раз не покупаете дорогие карты.
Do not compare your collection to others'. That can sort of cool down your interest because you feel you are so far behind. Concentrate on your own collection whatever it may be low end cards or high end cards. It is nothing wrong with cheap low end cards they are fun too so you are not a bad collector just because you don't buy high end relic cards.
Do you collect anything else on the sports theme ?

What are your plans and objectives for the future on a hobby ?
