Vladimir Weiss: I once said I would definitely return to Russia, promises should be kept

The head coach Slovak national team Vladimir Weiss has commented on the rumors of his possible return to Russia. Weiss worked at Saturn Moscow Region in 2006-2007 and now is said to be one of the candidates to take charge of Dynamo Moscow.

«On what subject are you calling me? Dynamo Moscow or Spartak Moscow? Three days ago I had a telephone conversation with the director of Dynamo. He inquired about my contract with the Slovak national team. As I have said some time ago, my contract allows me to combine the national team with a club. After that, I have found out that I am one of the candidates for the head coach position. This is it.

Speaking about Spartak, I have only been contacted by journalists. And there were also some phone calls from the agents. If there will be a real interest from Spartak, I am always ready to discuss the offer from such a big club.

I once said I would definitely return to Russia – and promises should be kept. It would be a challenge for me to work in the Premier League. Moreover, I have to decide upon my future now.

There have been major changes in the Slovak FA. New people have come in the places of those, with whom I had been working side by side for many years and with whom I had taken the national team to the World Cup. When I consider the offers from Russia, I also take this fact into account – after all, a contract is not just a job. I have my own style of work, the management has its own vision of the situation. The relations between us are purely working relations. However, it is not essential: the main thing is to take the national team to the European championship. I hope that in the autumn we will play the decisive games well,» said Weiss to Sport-Express.
