Zenit would not appeal if handed technical defeat against CSKA
Zenit St. Petersburg would not file an appeal if the club is handed a technical defeat instead of the draw (1:1) against CSKA, which took place within the Day 4 of the Russian Premier League. Zenit’s officials have forgot to introduce into the match squad any player born in 1990 or younger, while the Russian football regulations require each club to have at least one footballer of that age.
«We admit to the breach of the regulations and have no intention to appeal against the technical defeat and the fine. Those in fault of the breach will carry punishment», said Yevgeny Gusev, head of Zenit’s press service, according to Gazeta.ru.
Later the club announced that team administrator Vladislav Radimov will be dismissed as the person responsible for offical squad filing. Radimov, who finished his player’s career as captain of the St. Petersburg team three years ago, will still retain his position as assistant coach to Luciano Spalletti.
